While some may think that Fall is a time for pumpkins, apple picking, and prepping for Halloween, foodies, like myself, are gearing up for arguably the most delicious time of the year. From Beyond Juicery’s fall themed smoothies, bowls, and wraps, to Angelo’s infamous pumpkin pancakes, anyone in Ann Arbor craving a taste of fall is sure to not be let down.

  1. Beyond Juicery

Beyond was the first to catch my eye for fall food items - the five new items are well advertised right outside their door and after spotting them, I knew I needed to try a few for myself. Although the other three items seemed delicious as well, the Caramel Apple smoothie bowl and Autumn Power Bowl were absolutely killer. The combination of sweet from the smoothie bowl and savory from the power bowl was a perfect contrast, and I will for sure be going back for more while they are still available.

2. Starbucks

The first thing that comes to most people's minds when they think of a fall-flavored drink is Starbucks’ fall drink collection. From the apple crisp macchiato to the pumpkin spiced latte, to the pumpkin cream cold brew - the flavors of Starbucks fall drinks are truly unmatched. I had the pleasure of trying both of the pumpkin drinks, and am quite positive it will not be my last time ordering them. The drinks tasted like a sip of fall, and are the perfect treat after a long day of classes.

3. Angelo's Diner

Similar to Beyond, Angelo’s pumpkin pancakes are well-known to Ann Arbor locals for their delicious taste, and particularly for the fall season. I always look forward to these seasonal special pancakes appearing on the menu. These fluffy pancakes have the slightest hint of pumpkin and do not overwhelm your tastebuds, but are enough to crave another bite of this fall meal. If you are ever in the area, they are a delicious treat that will be sure to encapsulate the flavors of this season.

4. M36 fall drinks

New to the block in A2, the M36 fall coffee drinks set the perfect vibe for fall when I tried them for myself last week. Although they have a large menu of ‘featured’ drinks to choose from, the maple cinnamon latte, caramel dipped gingersnap latte, and bourbon barrel caramel mocha hit the spot when I needed a fall-esque pick-me-up the other day on my way to class. Although I would not recommend ordering all three at once unless you want to be awake all night, definitely check out M36’s fall drinks the next time you need coffee.

5. Savas

The final place I had the honor of checking out was Savas, who added a few fall-esque items to their menu that got many killer reviews by members of the food community. These items include homemade pumpkin and sesame seed granola with yogurt, blueberry pancakes, and white bean soup. Although this is a strange combination to be ordered together, I tried the pumpkin and sesame seed yogurt parfait and have to say that I’ve never had a parfait of that caliber. The fall notes were there, but not too overpowering, and it was the perfect amount of food to start my day with.

Ann Arbor has a wide variety of foods offered from restaurants in the area. However, if you’re looking for that little hint of a home-cooked, cold weather pick-me-up this fall, this list of fall-esque goodies is a great place to start.
