From the explosion of blogs in the early 2000s, which paved the way for Youtube in 2005, to Instagram, Twitter, and now TikTok, the media we consume has taken many different forms. One emerging form we see on the rise is the podcast. Readily available on Spotify, Apple Music, or the Podcast app, podcasts have taken up a storm with episodes on just about any topic possible- science, politics, pop culture, and even murder mysteries.

My personal favorite genre of podcasts to listen to is “Lifestyle and Health,” and if you frequent Hopelessly Yellow, it is probably one of your first choices as well. Whether it pertains to relationships, beauty, fitness, nutrition, or self-care, this sector of podcasts focuses on all things wellness. Below I’ve recapped some of my favorite wellness podcasts and episodes. And if these pods don’t sound like your cup of tea? Don’t worry. If something interests you, chances are there’s an episode or two about it.

Anything Goes

Almost every teen or twenty-something knows the name Emma Chamberlain. Taking the YouTube world by storm a few years ago, Emma has now branched out into the world of podcasts, and I, for one, am glad she did. Varying from episode to episode, on Anything Goes, you can expect to hear Emma chat about advice about friends, boys, and success, as well as some personal stories and thoughts from her own life. I love Anything Goes because of how personal and relatable it is. If you listen, her advice will more than likely strike a chord within you.

Recommended Episode: “life burnout”

Mood with Lauren Elizabeth

If you were deep into the world of all things beauty guru YouTube, the name Lauren Elizabeth may sound familiar. Another Youtuber-turned-podcaster, Lauren’s podcast is all about mood: the good, the bad, and how to improve your own on a daily basis. She often invites guests to hold a discussion on some topic relating to mood. One thing that draws me to Mood is how Lauren shares her best and worst mood of the week, which reminds me that everyone has their ups and downs. However, she also shares her mood boosters- tips to improve your mood that I often find myself following.

Recommended Episode: “Episode 85: Redefining Balance”

What We Said

Hosted by two best friends, Jaci Marie and Chelsey Jade, What We Said is light-hearted yet impactful. Sharing wild experiences, candid thoughts, and maybe even unsolicited advice, this podcast leaves no territory undiscovered. It’s entertaining enough with just the two of them, but they occasionally invite guests into the mix. What We Said is my go to when I want (or need) a distraction. Their fun stories take my mind off of whatever is stressing me out, but by the end of the hour I still feel like I am coming out with some valuable insight.

Recommended Episode: “FRIEND BREAKUPS AND ADVICE!”

Crying in Public

Crying in Public is a podcast hosted by Sydni and Sarah, two college-aged girls living in New York City. Their weekly episodes dive into their experiences navigating college, work, friendships, boys, and just life in general. They’re not afraid to get personal, and their episodes make me feel like I’m sitting right there with them. And as always, their down to earth opinions and views always resonate with me. Crying in Public is a podcast I’ve found that makes me laugh out loud, and I’m always counting down the days until their next episode.

Recommended Episode: “Mini Episode: Restoration Season-Getting Over Bad Habits and Getting Healthy (Part 1)’

WHOA That’s Good Podcast

Sadie Robertson, founder of Live Original, and featured on Duck Dynasty (crazy, right?) hosts WHOA That’s Good- a podcast that’s the epitome of wellness and advice. Each week, Sadie invites a guest onto her podcast to answer the question “What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?”. Her guests range from actors and musicians to athletes, authors, and scientists. I’m drawn to WHOA That’s Good because of the variety of life perspectives and opinions you get from each different episode. You can learn anything from anyone, and I definitely have had some great takeaways from this podcast.

Recommended Episode: “How to Be a Little Easier on Yourself”

While these are just a few, I could probably spend hours talking about my favorite podcasts. Take a listen, and if they’re not for you--find one that is!
